Creating a testing platform?

Post by dsvirus »

Hi chaps,

I would like to creat a test platform, a piece of wood, which I can assemble parts on in order to test them, run in gearboxs etc etc.

Anyone got any tips or ideas! Ideally, I would to be able to swap parts in and out.

Im rubbish at electronics so basic knowledge and ideas would be appreciated. :)

Cheers!

Hi dsvirus
You said it your self place a block under the tank that allows the tracks to run free, I use a 3inch by 2inch by 11inch long.

Yup. I use a lump of wood too. Saves a lot of hassle.

To run motors and gearboxes in, just get a sheet of styrene, drill holes for the gearbox screw mounts, and bolt them to the styrene. If you make up some longer motor cables you can run them from a tank.

Similar to WW I purchased a tool board that Lidl had, it comes with various pegs and the squares will allow me to bolt a rig into place, hold wires and lay everything out nice and neat.

It is also fairly big so I will be able to set it up to test a RX18 build and the older style using screw down terminals.
It is never just "one" tank!

hi dsvirus
as everybody says just sit the tank up on a block of wood.

to test your board etc have a look at a test bed I built, it lets me check all the parts, smoker, sound, gun fire and elevation etc

I got a flat bench top vice in Aldi or Lydl for about 6 or 8 euro. When jaws open it supports the tank really well and the parts touching the base are rubber so no scratches. Look at my videos and see tank testing on it and when its not used for this its a good bench vice also.
