King Tiger Snow Vid - with Exhaust Smoke

Post by DanL »

Note: This vid is of my Tamiya King Tiger in winter camo, focusing on showing the exhaust. I want to disclose up front that I make the smoker. I do not sell it. It will be available soon from RCTankWars.com I'm posting this independently from RCTW so I hope it is Ok to post.
(Mods - please pull this if not OK. Thanks.)

The KT weighs 14lbs (6.4kg), and has metal tracks, but she was still slipping in the loose snow at times. Fun to watch.
Here's a clip in the snow. The smoker is smaller than a HL stock unit and will likely fit and will operate in HL and Tamiya tanks.

Excellent King Tiger Dan, I see what you mean about the traction issue. At 14lbs it should dig in? Perhaps some wheel weights over the tracks to add some traction, my Tiger has about 1.5lbs over the tracks in the space over the tracks under the hull.

You can purchase these at harbour freight very inexpensive and up to 2=oz. weights about an 30mm long by 20mm wide. They are available in 1/4 oz through 2oz. Great job on the KT,The smoker seems to work very well, is this the new smaller version?

It's the very new miniature Super Smoker....and smaller than the stock HL smoker.

I like that very much Dan,super small, the smoke rate seems good though as your KT seemed to flow smoke well. Run time may be a trade of but I think this is your best design to date. Of course I want one and I'm sure Alb will want one to,when do you think Phil will have them in-stock?

How would I go about connecting one with Elmod set up. I think I have space for the bigger version in my Tiger.

Johnf -
Details for the ElMod install and confirmation that the proportional output works will be available shortly.
Basically, the smoker power leads go straight to main battery thru a switch, and another pair of leads get attached to the pos and neg of one motor. That's it. Very simple.

Johnf,
The smoker works in basic output mode with ElMod, but the proportional smoke output feature does not work. Working on it....

It does work with full propotrtional output with Tamiya and Heng Long.
