Recommended Paints?

Hi, I am looking at buying my first airbrush this weekend and wondering what paints people are using. I have never airbrushed before so feel a little nervous.

Should I buy a set of paints, or is it better to buy individual as required etc.

I looking at starting with a weathered panzer grey colour perhaps with a hint of winter.

Would this set of paints be any good? I was looking for a good set to get me started; then I could buy a few individual paints as I need them!

Or should I look elsewhere? To be honest, I have been out of modelling for a while, so I am of the loop somewhat.

I personally love those paints as you buy the set normally to a type of tank rather than hunting for individual colours

I've always used Vallejo acylics, there are loads of colours available and I can spray it, brush it, thin it with car screen wash and when finished a spray of Vallejo matt varnish protects it.
I buy the single pots, usually post free, off ebay as I need them. I've still managed to accumulate 45 colours, don't know what I've used them for but I will eventually

Thanks! Are acrylic paints hard to remove if you make a mistake??

Good choice of paint or you could use tamiya and finish with pigments, thats what i always use
, only advice i can add is what ever paint you chose get the same brand thinner .......

I use the Vallego colours. The problem with the panzer colour sets is you get colours you do not need. Think better to buy seperate colours. The model air colours are good if new to airbrushing but are just thinned down model colour. Vallego model colour thinned down goes a lot further. Did you look at airbrushes. Good airbrush compressors with basic brush available on ebay cost about £80. Aerosol propellant airbrushes are useless.

Any good? It seems a decent price and set up to get me started.

I will have a look at that link now. On reflection, it seems that single paints makes more sense. I will get a list together of what I think I need.

Seems like a good set,double action takes some time to adjust,at least it did for me. But in hind site it is more flexible and easy enough to clean. I see the set has a cup and a bottle. That's also a plus as you can use the bottle and not worry with spilling. Hate to admit this but I paid more and got less due to the name Paasche.

As for the paint set,I just switched to the Vallejo and Tamiya ACRYLICS after using Testors Enamels for many years. Much easier to clean with acrylics but does take a little practice.

That is a great compressor. Have a look and see if you can get the same with an air tank underneath. For what we are doing I wold not recommend expensive airbrushes especially to start with. The one I use most for tanks is the one that came with tis compressor

Have you got an example of an air tank set up with a compressor as I am not really sure what you mean. :0
