New guy with 1/8 jagdpanther

Post by JP 233 »

Hi all,
I'm new to tanks and haven't done any modelling/rc since a young lad (70's :'( ). I seems I've matured into a big kid with larger toys. I've somehow landed myself an old mark-1-tank 1/8 Jagdapnther in need of alot of tlc. Its mid rebuild and will be a big improvement (I hope)on the original basic (very) model which is now discontinued. Its been substantially more indepth than I'd bargained for as it wasn't in the best of health. I will be posting photos of the various stages up to date. Unfortunately it seems 1/8 is a tricky scale as there is little in the way of part/ accessories available so any help there would be appreciated. Also there is precious little in the way of accurate reference material on late variants of the jagdapnther (which this has been converted to). So any advice on insignia, numbers, markings, paint etc will be welcome went it comes to the painting stages. I believe several wss units had a handful of JP's so I'm thinking of possibly recreating one those.
cheers
Gaz

Thanks all for the warm welcome. Cheers Sax for that link, appreciated. Since it confirmed there were JP's belonging to SS Pz DIV's I'm going to go for the 9th. Whether they still carried numbers/insignia in 45 is anyones guess I suppose and open to artistic license (?) Will hopefully get some pics posted at the weekend in the larger scale military section. Will look forward to your advice/opinions.
cheers
JP
Heres a before shot before I move over to larger scale section. What you cant see inthe photo is the half inch thick/flaking paint, seized swing arms, broken barrel/mantle etc. The list goes on. Its stripped back to bare grp now and most faults are fixed. On with the detailing.
