Re: Turret rotation speed
Their is a modification that was described to me and then I purchased a Tank from the person. It allows the speed to be adjusted and allows the turret removal with out separating the hull.Turret lifts off from any position. The gear box is a Tamiya kit which allows different ratio combinations, which in turn allows turret speed modification. The ring gear is from a Panzer IV.

Re: Turret rotation speed
Thanks for the reply Saxondog, I dont think I'll go down that route on this, looking for something much simpler. (credit due though, that's a well thought out mod!) what about lowering the voltage to the rotation motor? would it still be fit to turn if I halved the voltage do you think? (with a resistor) technically this would still be too quick but it'd be better.

Re: Turret rotation speed
I purchased a 3ch servo speed regulator/reverser from hobby king and have considered trying it myself. I'm uncertain of the amp draw from the rotation motor and the capacity of the regulator.

Re: Turret rotation speed
A resistor will definitely work, but has some downsides. Likely a very low value - 15 ohms to maybe 33 ohm range. Get at least 1/2 watt to handle the motor current.
Very touchy to get the right value - too low and speed still to high, too high and it won't rotate or will get stuck when it meets any resistance (like from twisting of internal wires).
Also, may rotate fine at low speed when the battery is freshly charged (likely about 8.2-8.4volts), but stop rotating at all when the battery starts to run down (maybe only 6.5-6.8 volts).
Gear ratio change is a best bet.

Re: Turret rotation speed
If were talking about H/L then the resistor may be the best solution, but even the H/L could use the gearbox from the mod listed above replacing the H/L rotation unit with the Tamiya gearbox, their are 4 ratios possible with this little gear box, mounting is simple either use plasticard or glue directly in the space where the H/L unit is mounted. Since the H/L ring gear is removable the different gearbox will not effect disassembly.

Re: Turret rotation speed
i havn't tried it yet , but i was considering using a volume control switch .
has anyone tried something similar ?

to the bouncy room ! Yay !
Re: Turret rotation speed
Hi.
I fitted a 1amp speed controller to my turret traverse motor so I can move the turret VERY slowly for accurate target aquisition and then at a faster speed for swinging around to the next target, works really well, also i can follow a target with the turret and then fire, very realisitc.
Hope its of use.
regards sub.
