introduction
Hi everybody,
thought i did this earlier but obviously did'nt save it so here go's! Im new to this forum but not completely new to R/C Tanks, i have owned several down through the years including 3 Tamiya Kingtigers, 2 Tiger 1 full options, a sherman and a half built Leopard 2A6 i was building for someone else but sadly never completed.
I Considered myself a competent modeller but after seeing some of the builds on here, im now firmly back in the amateur ranks. I can weather and paint to a reasonable standard but im no scratch builder or model engineer and have never dabbled with the fiddly brass stuff to date.
Like many i have been out of the hobby for far too long due to the usual excuses, Work commitments, Carpet monsters Etc but im gearing up for what i hope will be an awesome Tiger 1 Late varient build, complete with Tamiya upper hull and super detailed turret, Asiatam lower hull, metal tracks, 3.1 gear box and Tamiya electronics aswell as a host of after market metal!
I'll keep you posted but for the moment im still gathering parts and referance material for a zimmed up late beast.
Just as a parting shot, i am lucky enough to travel extensively in my work and i have visited many great places along the way including French tank museum at Saumur, Panzer museum Munster, the KT at La Gleize in Belguim and i've clambered all over the Late Tiger 1 at Vimoutier in Normandy (quite a unique exhibit) as you really do get to climb all over it and jump up and down without being told off!
I Have been interested in Armour, particularly WW2 German armour since i was a small boy and the interest has never gone away ,although it has taken the odd lenghty holiday shall we say.
Good to say hello, look forward to collecting ideas and advice from all the excellant fellow modellers on here.
Best regards,
Stu

Re: introduction
sounds like you can bring some good ideas and possibly pics of your tank visits to this site. Hope to see you get going with your build!
I like your combo of the tammy upper and Asiatam lower!
PLENTY of available aftermarket doodads for this tank. If you have not already been to the net sites, check out welshdragon tanks and forgebear. Exceptional to deal with. If you need tammy parts, AAF tank museum in USA or Jason's store on ebay
cheers

Re: introduction
Hi,
i will indeed post some photos in the near future. I have dealt with Welsh Dragon and Forgebear (both exceptional) and have just ordered from Jason a bucket load of Tamiya parts. Im also looking at Axels Tank modelbau shop and Wecohe for parts (the snazzy working wire cutters in particular) i will check out the AAF site. Part one of my build will be detailing a Late version Turret as soon as im ready i'll post some build photos.
Cheers,
Stu
