70 years ago today Hitler and the High Command Set into motion preparations for Operation "SEA LION" the invasion of Great Britain, the first Phase would be control of the airspace on the invasion beaches/ coastal cities. This was the prelude to the heaviest bombing missions yet planned. Total Air Superiority would allow the Wehrmache to transport first para-troops to secure coastal air fields.Once this first step had been achieved the Luftwaffe could protect the invasion forces as they crossed the channel.

Once the Germans had a foot hold on British soil,specifically armored units the entire country could be controlled. And over ran as the British and French had abandoned their equipment on the shores of Dunkirk. Leaving less than a single Battalion of combat equipped troops in the entire nation.

The delay since Dunkirk had allowed the British to make some plans in the event of invasion, but the Army high command knew they could never stop the Germans if they were able to deploy Panzer Divisions on British soil. Truly the battle of Britain has begun.
