Mato Build questions

Post by Yellowshaker »

Guys I started my Mato conversion into an Isralei M50. All is going well cosmetically, but I hae a few questions. I am unsure about what electronics I am going to use. I have purchased the Tamiya mechanisms for the turret elevation and recoil, but I am keeping the stock rotation motor and gears from Mato. I was planning to use Elmod for this build because of the ability to gain the correct sounds and change them at will. Has a nyone tried to use tamiya elevation units with elmod? Will it work? Also, I was under the impression that all Israeli shermans were converted to Diesel. If not, can I get the correct sound using Tamiya conrol units?
BTW, here is the link to the build... http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_9886175/tm.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Nice Sherman......

....you have build a Sherman M-1 not a Sherman M-50.

Sherman M-1 - Israeli designation of any Sherman model armed with the 76 mm gun M1.

Super Sherman M-1 - Israeli designation of M4A1(76) fitted with HVSS suspension.

Sherman M-50 - Upgraded Sherman with the French CN 75-50 75 mm gun, as used in the French AMX 13 light tank, in the "old" turret fitted with a counterweight. Entered service in 1956.
M-50 Continental - subvariant with Continental R-975 gasoline engine and VVSS suspension. 50 units converted.
M-50 Cummins - subvariant with Cummins diesel engine and HVSS suspension.

I was planning to use Elmod for this build because of the ability to gain the correct sounds and change them at will. Has a nyone tried to use tamiya elevation units with elmod? Will it work?
Yes it works fine.

OK, thanks for the info...now would this tank have Diesel or gas?
And forthe elmod, how do you wire the elevation unit? I was told that elmod is designed to work with HL electronics which has a one way control for elevation. I want to be able to move the gun up and down from any position and not have to make it work like the HL system.

Gas
This Tank have the Continental R-975 gasoline engine.

And forthe elmod, how do you wire the elevation unit
With El-Mod the Unit works in both directions

Thank so much Jens. Your Sherman looks great man. I love the front. As for the color, I found that Armor sand made by testors is the closest thing we have for the Israeli tank models. It seems that due to scale color is affected and this is the best representation for scale size. I hope this helps.
