OK STARTS AS TAMIYA BUT CONVERTS BACK TO HENG LONG down at bottom of page > I left my tamiya build stuff here cause some good tips in the build.
In my mini Alkett (basement workshop) I have a new tank brewing....(won;t get to it until Nashorn finished)
Tamiya hull and suspension(waiting on set of road wheels from Tammy USA and Scre bags from Japan)
Welsh Dragon Stug IV kit. Pretty inclusinve of all major superstructure parts in metal /plastic/resin aluminum barrel and brass supressor..NIce kit!
Tammy drive wheels fit HL metal tracks perfectly. Have not decided on tammy or asiatm drive units...
HL electronics..
Will have elevation , but not traverse. No recoil either. But will have flash!
This will be my last in series of sturmgehsultz/panzerjager ( unless Elephant makes a debut!)
So far I have built or WIP:
Nashorn
STUG III
STUG IV
Jagdpanther
Second Jagdpanther
Cheers

yep! Last few parts on the way .....
Re: STUG IV Tamiya Mod
Suspension mod: I felt the stock suspension springs were too soft for scale weight. So what I did was get another set of suspension bars from AAF (very fast shippers!) and cut them in half. then added an extra half bar to the front of each mount (look closely and you can see the doubled bars)
Works great.
It is a huge PITA to gather all the parts for the Tammy P-IV suspension and hull and I don;t think I will ever build this hull again without the whole P-Iv kit, even though it does save money if you are not using tammy upper hull and other bits.
due to height limitations, I decided to go with tammy gearboxes even though the speed is not accurate.

Re: STUG IV Tamiya Mod
Looks nice, gives me inspiration for the future project, where I plan on replacing the HL electronics with Tamiya electronics in my StuG IV.
Keep up the good work!

- upgrade suspension: best buy for ~40$. Throw away the screws with the kit and reuse the nice HL allen head screws for the road wheels and hull mounts. Hardly any play compared the HL stock and they look much better. Drop of CA to hold hull mount screw and drop CA to hold lower spring retainer. each suspension group has THREE springs, two hidden coil springs and one leaf spring (visible)
