New project posibly two.
New project posibly two.
Hi Guys Started my new project its a Panther II, see first two photos the third photo is a Jagdpanther II,It has the same hull, so might make the upper to fit, so I have two tanks for one hull.
The Hull is a Tamiya panther hull (Bought on ebay), wheels spaced and one removed using King Tiger wheels and suspension arms,it will have King Tiger tracks and sprockets (have full tracks for build to set suspension and get it running)I know its supposed to have transport type tracks, but these are very expencive and will be added later (when funds allow),Hope to also have Tamiya DmD/Mf units (again funds permiting)Have the low ratio gears from forgebear(also have a Jagdpanther upper from Dave May convert to Jagdpanther II)So could have a running lower hull soon (using heng long electrics).
Will post build Photos as soon as the tracks are on.
regards pete

Awesome! The Panther II is an excellent paper panzer. I'll be watching your builds with a lot of interest.

Re: New project posibly two.
hi there pete
i have been after a set of transport track for ages ... i know you can get off evilbay $120... but the postage and the customes charges make them close to £100 for one set .... so my KT and JT will have to wait too ..
now .. i looked at the panther 2 several times .. and have a few bits of info ... the hull top was closer to a king tiger in shape than a panther with different hull angles .and longer than a panther by 178mm and 68 mm narrower ....
the best set of accurate drawings i have come acrss if in panzer tracts no5-4 its all about the panther F and II .. and explains all the history and why thay did not come about .. .. one section that made me think about the panther ii is the fact that it was going to be fitted with larger road wheels . like the e-100 .. e-10 and e-25... as the germans were trying to standardise as may components as possible ... to date i have not found the corret wheels .. other thank on a hoobinbs e-100 ( yes right .. i wounder if the kitt will ever turn up ..and if its complete )
any way .. this is almost as far as i have got to date
the panther F was to be an upgrade of the panther's if you like panther G a2 ...

but on the other hand

or i should just by another G from dave ?

Hi Pete
The middle picture is Martin Davies (Edelweiss3945)'s Panther II. As far as I remember, he made it from a cut-down Tamiya King Tiger hull and re-spaced the wheels. The turret was scratch-built. He brings it to our northern branch meets sometimes and it runs great. Might be worth giving him a PM as he'll certainly have more pictures of it and maybe some building tips too.
Cheers
Chris

Re: New project posibly two.
HiChris ,Martin is going to e-mail me the photos of the Panther II .Have a full set of drawings 1/16 scale, but the photos will be good for reference,Have a hull (think its a Tamiya Panther hull)it will have King Tiger wheels and suspension arms.
Have seen the f type tuuret for sale at asiatam (but its about 3mm to narrow on each side )so going to scratch build the turret and save the money.

Re: New project posibly two.
Just a thought guy's Christian(chris3) and his CNC router machine is available to make custom parts. It may be worth looking into,I have talked with him about parts for my 1/6 Tiger and he seems to be a nice guy and very smarts in his engineering of components. He can be reached through Pm or I do have his e-mail. Sax
Re: New project posibly two.
Hi Sax have seen his work its top notch ,he has a comet kit in the making ,which i think he is going to sell ,hope he does a Churchill next.

Re: New project posibly two.
Christian if focused on the British Armor,he understands that those Tanks just are not available in 1/16 scale. Also I have been saving up and selling my stash of Kawasaki Z-1,GPZ,AND MISC.Other parts to fund a machine like Christians. He has been very helpful, and without his advice it would be much more expensive, trail and error.tooling Just by being so willing to talk to me. His English is not that good but neither is my German. But we seem to find time to talk, and learn.I asked him to make some parts for my 1/6 scale Tiger and he was very willing, I must first finish the current project with Dietrich.Pete if you want Christians e-mail I am sure he would not object, let me know and I will send it via pm. Cheers Blake
Re: New project posibly two.
hey Pete and everyone who wants British Armor let Christian(Chris3)know.
moin
sure, you can give him my e-mail. im looking forward.
how will you send me your drawings, wich format will the file have? if you send me a cdr file it would be the best.
im working hard on the crommwell..., the crusarder or the cromwell howitzer are maybe the next.

Re: New project posibly two.
Hi Guys Had a bit of a spend and bought this from Keith(Fireflykeith)It has a fully upgraded hull http://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/v ... =18&t=5574" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Its a Jagdpanther,Now for the plan Have to find/buy 2 Panther G uppers Buy from Chris3 a Jagdpanther II upper ,with one of the Panther uppers fit a F type turret.
So I will have 2 lower hulls one Panther and one Panther II ,4 uppers Panther G Panther F Jagdpanther and jagdpanther II,with these uppers and lowers I can Have a
1 Panther II with G type turret(Paton museum the only one in the world)with Panther II lower
2 PantherIi with F type turret panther II lower as was inttended
3 Jagdpanther II Upper from Chris3 and Panther II lower
4 JagdPanther standard tank (from Fireflykeith)
5 Panther G with standard upper body
6 Panther F with F type turret
All the above have photos or drawings for
But there is another combination
7 standard Jagdpanther upper on Panther II lower
As with most builds most of the cost is in the lower hull ,here Im trying to save money and maximise the number of models Possible 7 models on 2 lower hulls.
Will be sending Chris 3 a P.M.later today to order a Jagdpanther II upper he does them at 40euros which for a CNC machined scratch built upper is a very good price.Still need to find/buy 2 Panther G uppers BB but prefer I.R.(will be contacting Dave Forgebear when he gets back from Bovington)Have seen Ftype turrets for sale,(asiatam) but then have to be modifed, there about 3mm to small each side in width and there also a little short at the back,so will be converting a G turret to F type ,I have a jagdpanther I.R.upper to use on the Jagdpather II upper recoil elevation +things like hatchs and grills .All of the uppers will have battle units (possibly hiden will have to see when building)and the lowers DBCs again saving money,DbCs are expencive DBUs are only $15
What do you think of the plan .
