unfair

Post by KV1s »

Would i be right in assuming that only the 1/16th IRAD members get to go on meets and us hobbyists just get to sit and read what a good day they had?

If this is so then why?,,,surely us hobbyists can have fun at meets too

Yes it's unfair alright, I've been a member of this forum for 18 months and I'm still waiting for my handwritten invitation from Matt to join him in an all expenses paid trip out to play with our tanks.

Seriously, the name of the game here is participation, you only get out what you put in.

I would suggest that if (like me) you are not interested in the IR aspect of the hobby , then a friendly request to meet up with local tankers and organise your own meet would bring you more luck than moaning about some wrongly perceived us and them type attitude existing here.

There is room here for all interests, that is reflected in the growing number of members and some superb builds which are very much 'hobbyist' orientated.

I rest my case.

Ok Recoil, lets get things straight here

1) its not about us and them

2) i may be interested in the IR side of it but i would want to see it 1st (you dont buy a car without taking it round the block)

3) I would orgainse a local meet but from what ive seen a lot of people put a lot of efford into their builds and if that was me i wouldnt want to take it out and mess it up

Thats all there is to it really, would be nice to go to meets at shows/museums etc but it seems i will have to organise 1 myself

you can come to our meets to talk about the tanks but you need to be a member of the culb to run or show tanks at shows as we have public liability insurance

Hi Anyone who would like to come to a meeting ,there more than welcome to attend its free for most events ,(some there may be a charge)the insurance is needed if you want to run one of your own tanks,(if you use one of the guys(ask nicely) tanks at a meeting under there supervision it will be coverd by his insurance),to join I.R.A.D. its free .
I will say this once you have had a couple of battles you will be hooked its great FUN ,so watch for a meeting that is nearest you and if you can go come along and have a natter and alot of Fun.

Hi Aaron

The 1/16 irad was set up with everyone in mind

I am one of the founding members of this club and forum and ask the guys i have only just last month got an I/R system for my tanks :/ :/ one of our members was very kind to let me borrow for a battle or two there tank

the battling is part of the club but what happens in between is the fun bit as well

and you are more than welcome to attend a meet whenever you like the only thing is due to the health and safety and suing nation we have evolved into we unfortunatly need The insurance to cover "us" in the event of a marauding Tiger or panther bruising joe publics ankle :O

there is no membership fee as yet
we are talking of one to cover running costs but that hasnt been decided yet and it isnt going to cost alot just enough to cover any costs and hopefully build a better club

Kind Regards Rob

Im a member of the IRAD, EVEN though i dont even own an IR tank. But being a member, I get invited to all sorts of meets, be it public events such as Muckelbrough, or private meets such as Septons scout hut meets. As Mat rightly says, it costs nothing to join, just 5 mins of your time to fill out the online form which is on this forum. Then just keep an eye on the branch pages for up and coming meets. You also dont have to be a member of a certain branch to attend meets. Im part of the midlands branch, yet attended Cobbatton last year which is in the sothern branch 'sector'. As long as your prepared to travel, and in most cases camp over night, your more then welcome to any club meet. Just a recap on what Septon said. If you do join, and go to public meet, You WILL need club insurence (public liability) this only costs £7 and lasts for a year (people correct me if im wrong) and this can be sorted out on the day. But as for the club, the more the merrier. Ive only been to a couple, but there fantastic events and a greate way to put a face to the tank, and to talk all things tank and model related.
Maybe i'll see you at a meet soon

King regards, Luke.
