NIGHT LIGHTS

Post by KV1s »

Hi Guys

Just been out on night manouvers in the back garden with my H/L KV1s and found 2 problems

1) is there a way of fitting a L E D to the turret so you can see where you are shooting of a night?

2) is there a way of stopping the nice bright L E D from flashing when the engine is off (stealth reasons) whilst keeping it constant whilst running?

Other than those 2 items i love my tank to death and i really want another 1 to go with it

The easiest way that springs to mind (tho probably not the cheapest) would be to take out the HL receiver and and fit the DBCRC2 battle circuit with a 6 channel radio (see the sticky in the electronics thread) - Kills three birds with 1 stone:
  • Use a hobby grade radio, no more channel conflicts with other HL users
Tamiya compatible IR battle circuit :D
2 free channels on the radio/receiver to control on/off switches (like Dimension Engineering's picoswitch r/c relay circuit - http://www.dimensionengineering.com/PicoSwitch.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ) for your lights B|
Be interested to hear if anybody has a cheaper solution o- I'm thinking about going down the relay interface route for my Tamiya powered Bulldog with for a search light over the main gun, and getting the headlights plugged into something other than the MFU (buying the Tam head light set for just the connector @ $25 costs more than a battle bot relay @ $20!)

Thanks mart

I was thinking more along the lines of connecting it to the speaker feed via my now redundant smoker switch to turn it off in daylight..
was thinking more of stopping the flashing during stand-by if anyone has any ideas/succesful mods

Not sure I follow that one - the head lights are rated at about 2.5V if memory serves, so you won't want to be hooking them up to either the speaker or smoker 8O

But don't let me deter you, I'm not an electronics guru by any stretch 8O

hmmmm, think you may of mis-understood,or i didnt explain properly..

i want to keep the light constant when the engine is running but use the smoker switch (now unused due to removing smoker unit) to turn it off during daylight..plus i want to stop the flash when in standby

i thought it was the speaker feed that switched the light but maybe not,,i will look into it again tomorrow and keep you posted with what i achieve

The smoker switch is independent of the speaker. I don't know what the speaker has in the way of voltage, but the headlights get 2.5V from the 8 way connector on the upper hull, and the smoker 7.2V from the switch! 8O
I can't imagine either feed will enhance the long term health of your headlights :O

I don't know how to disable the headlight 'standby mode' flashing (without disconnection anyway) but if you want to switch them manually, I would suggest the airsoft motor switch in the turret would be a better bet :~

Hi How about this fit a microswitch to the gun elevation when gun is fully elevated up the lights are on ,as for direction of the turret fit a coax M.G. wired to the M.G. button fire M.G. you can see which way you are pointed, main gun up see to drive .Cost less than a pound.
