Etched metal parts

Post by nibelungenwerk »

Has anybody out there got any experience with Do it yourself photo etching?
If not at least where to start looking. I'm planning one of next winters projects

Not fully clear on what you mean? If you are asking about brass sheet being used to make etched grade parts then their are a few build threads where members have made parts in this style.If this is what your asking I will help you find these builds.Cheers Sax

Here you go.

There is a handy guide to the basics on here;

I've not tried it myself, but could be really good for small delicate parts.

I've often thought of getting a company I use at work to do some etching for me. I send them data on a regular basis and for £140 I get it back 2 days later.Each metal sheet is 20inches square and we used it for sreen printing solder paste onto bare PCBs. If anybody gives me a nudge I'll enquire. I have been thinking of getting the turret baskets for my Aussie Leopard AS1 done that way. It means I'd have to do the artwork first. Price is a bit daft though unless you can fill an entire sheet.

The guide to making tarpaulins has some of the best scale ones i've ever seen! :thumbup: I will be stealing many of his tips for my Sherman, lol. He has a good collection of how-to's there.

Cheers,
Rik
