Hl High tension Flasher Question..and others

Post by mickyb »

Hi guys

I am now installing the electronics in the Centurion and below is what I intend to do. I have no doubt some of you will have done some or all of it, so I would appreciate your help. ???

Here is what I intend to install: :/

Standard RX18 wiring.
HL Tiger recoil unit.
HL High Tension Flash unit.
Darkith Battyle System.
Remove Smoker ( I don't like them )
No barrel elevation ( after several attempts I find there is not enough room in the turret )

All components are from Forgebear so I will use the standard HL plug/wiring he sends with the RX18 so the help and info that I need is shown below.....

I want to have the cannon flash before the gun recoils....will this happen when the flash unit is plugged into the RX18. The standard lamp flashes after the barrel recoils on the HL recoil installation because it is fired via a contact springset on the recoil unit but I am removing this lamp in favour of the High tension flasher.

I am hopeless at electronics and so I need to know if the Darkith unit just cuts into the standard HL RX18 wiring, or if I have to adjust the wiring to enable the installation to take place.

The standard battle "apple" installation will not be done. I will copy Wibbly's idea of hiding the installed components around the tank. I think his tanks look terific without the apple sticking up from the turret so I will try to emulate his style.

What is the best LED emmitter to fit please? I have been told before but being a dope I've lost the info. :S

Has anyone fitted the little circuit that cuts out the naff tank jump back? Has anyone cut the white wire that is supposed to cut it out. I ask this because I wonder if this condition is used by the Darkith unit???

For those of you who are like me ...... electronic numbskulls, I will publish the final installed wiring. I will add it to the Centurion build in the appropriate section.

Thanks in anticipation of a landslide of wonderously informative info

Have agreat week

Hi Rob,

yup I have your pm many thanks.

Obviously no one else likes me cos you are the only one who has answered all week. If I was a sensitive soul I would be sulking rite now :haha:

I have traced most of the wiring...or HL nightmare.... within the turret and hull, so I have the general idea of what goes where. The Darkith kit is a doddle to put together, it is the IR emitter that concerns me. Is the supplied one not powerful enough? If it is, why install a different one?

Cheers Rob

I only installed a different one because the Darkith one is 3mm, and it is a lot easier to find 5mm tube to put one in (at least that is the way that I remember it, it may be that I had to pull out the original and wrecked it, so had to buy what Maplins sold? :/ )

I checked with Dave, and he told me that the Maplins one would be fine, though of course, there is nothing wrong with the original.
