Hi The early Panther Gs that were without the chined mantlet had zimmerit but the later ones that had chins , Ive never seen any wartime pictures of one with zimmerit I think the chins were fitted around Sept 44 the same time zimmerit was dropped . Theres plenty of pictures of early Gs in Normandy with zimmerit . Ps the Panther builds out of this world. Very good.

like to point out that the panther 2 had a different hull .. it looks like a panther but is actualy longer and narrower // different road wheel configuration ... and different hull angle's on the armour !

Hi,
I built my 1/8 Panther as Cuckoo. If you read its history, its quite interesting and there are some comments about it from some of the veterans that knew the "real steel" on the net (just google "panther cuckoo")
The hassle is that I keep getting people collaring me and asking what sort of Yank tank it is and it does get tiring having to keep explaining its history.
Its also been done in 1/16 as a Tamiya conversion. I think he over weathered it a bit, but it was superbly done. There might still be some pics of it on the UKTC site.
Great subject for a model & I think it would look fantastic on the back of Septons Scammell!
