Other halfs.

Post by Andy in Cheltenham »

Was thinking the other day about my girlfriends reaction to my Leopard. We met about 18 months ago and my tank was a secret for a while until I got my hooks definatley into her. She is a very girly girl and a tank is a tank even if it's a personel carrier. She just smiles and rolls her eyes whenever I approach the subject. My Leopard AS1 is at my dad's where it is being restored and I go and take a look whenever we are visiting. We are in the process of house hunting so that our daughter can have her own bedroom and my tank will finally be coming home. It won't be allowed in the house, but that will change. It could be worse I could be into O gauge Locos like my dad. Is there a bias towards single men in this hobby? I would assume not. My attention to detail does pay off in the home and my decorating skills are pretty good. What do wives/girlfriends think of this playtime? Yes it is playtime don't kid yourself.

My wife is ok with it all. I'm working on her at the moment to get a 1/6th scale early next year but that is an uphill struggle. One of the best things I did was to buy a cheap second hand Tiger and spray it red and pink for my daugter whose 6, with her on side my wife had little choise.

my other half is encourages me too, I suppose with both of us around all day it keeps me out from under her feet. I've managed to collect 30 1/16 tanks and got them round the room, still trying to get more shelf space but it's difficult without knocking a wall down (now there's a thought, any architects out there?) She's even buying me another elmod for my birthday :D

Ross has it made I have seen his tanks and his wife does know every single one of them by sight on the other hand my wife dosn't like them and hates the boxes they come in even more especially the forces of valour king tiger box which is made of wood and is shaped like a ammo box it takes up a full shelve in the cupboard I do have a display cabinet in the bedroom with glass doors that holds six tanks. :D

I brought a girlfriend home about 18 months ago, she walked in the door and past my sideboard. I didn't mention the tanks, but she stopped looked at them excitedly and said, ' oh those are good, that's a Tiger, and an assault gun, and the other two are Allied. That one is post-war isn't it?'. I just looked at her gobsmacked?

I have a lady friend in France, can't believe my luck, she has her own motorcycle, her son has an RC tank and walks around in his camo gear, and she has been to Saumur Tank Museum four times?

If I thought that I could get away with it, I would offer her a romantic weekend at Bovington later in the year.
