Like many recent UK military procurements FRES has been plagued by false dawns so its difficult to tell exactly what GD have won and when we will see more than artists impressions/ powerpointware. Theoretically it is a bespoke UK requirement so not necessarily like anything in the US inventory. Having said that, there aren't many UK sources left of a lot of the pieceparts so only time and budget will tell.

Or the new carriers, or the Astute Subs, or Chinook Mk 3, or A400M, or [insert UK MoD contract here]

Its not going to be anything radical I don't think, its just a brit version of the spanish ASCOD system, same basic design with British add ons, extra space to hide illegal immigrants, an automatic compass that points to mecca ready for prayers so that our minorities don't feel put out, and a weapons system that fires bean bags so that we can't be sued by lawyers4you when we go to war and get accused of being overtly too violent and imperialistic.

I was going to go off on a rant, but I realised most of what I was saying was probably commercially confidential or classified...
Suffice to say that successive Govts have messed around the UK AFV industry to the point that they can't afford to stay in buisness (same as the warship builders)

Blooming typical of the current government in the UK, letting another British industry go abroad, like car manufacturing and the Railway train manufacturers then there is the steel industry as well, will we have any manufacturing capability in the future, or will we have to import everything in the future, what happend to Britain being the workshop to the world
