New Smoker design
New Smoker design
Hello Everyone,I have recently made mention of a new smoker design that I was involved in designing. This was done on another forum with two other guy's,both are newbie tankers but have a solid background in electronics design and design graphics.Normand and Dan are my friends for RCGROUPS Forum,we have considered marketing this new smoker unit and Dan has parts for about twenty units.I have offered a unit to Dave and if he feels their is a market then ok but the likely thing for 1/16 scale will be me posting the design here for all to use,see I really want to market a 1/6 scale smoker unit and a 1/10 scale unit for the large trucks. Here is a link to our work on the other forum complete with testing data,my contribution was more in the units stability for use in tanks large and larger.I will make this design available and the element design can replace the H/L smoker element with ease.It is a ceramic resistor with Kevlar wick for fluid absorbtion, the stock power supply will work perfectly. Here is the link. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1182927" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Cheers Blake

Our target was 15.00us per unit which includes a replacement element.I have spoken with Dave and will be sending a unit to him to evaluate. We were also considering it as a kit,you get all the parts and assembly is simple,it is a fan driven design but the two wire plug for the factory smoker is attached to the element so all you have to do is plug it in and connect the motor wire just like the H/L smoker but only one set from one motor instead of four. And to be honest if Dave feels he can stock a number of kits then that's fine if not I have offered the design draft to him or I will post it for all to use,it is a very clear and detailed draft as DAN DOES GRAPHIC DESIGN FOR A LIVING,the drawing he created is exact all parts are listed and where to purchase the parts and the part numbers. The ceramic resistors are great and the Kevlar wicks stay soft and absorbent. But the one big difference is the fog fluid as used in rc boats, this is not as messy and the smoke seems to settle to the ground instead of disapating up into open air.The fog fluid is expensive and may be the thing that prevents us selling/importing this unit into the UK.Also when we started we did this as a fun project, and to make a dependable smoker,it is depandable and we will not be getting rich so giving the design to the forum may be the best way for guy's in the Uk to enjoy this design,we have also tried piping a line into the barrel,at recoil a hole into the barrel lines up and allows smoke to enter rather fast so after the flash you get smoke.I will not let you guy's down, cheers Blake

Hi Blake,
It would be terrific if you sold them directly to us here maybe via this forum? Those wishing to use them would definitely pay for a reliable unit,

If buy directly you mean UK members that is where Dave comes in,I have the US market covered but my UK Forum Mates are my first concern and you guy's will get this design in the most inexpensive way possible. My partner is out of town on business and will return on the 8th of March at which time we will work out all the issues.Dave is involved and will be our Uk outlet,we are not really looking to make money as much as bringing some thing that is needed to the hobby,a real smoker that works. It can be used with a recoil unit to simulate smoke after firing with I/R.I am awaiting my new gun system from Creeping Death as they are now releasing their long awaited paintball system. This will be a gas fired system and I will be attempting to connect the smoker to the barrel so at recoil I get smoke discharge as well as Paintball .But with I/R a simple nipple fitting and a hole drilled into the barrel while recoiled will work for barrel discharge, the holes line up when the barrel comes back smoke already under pressure is forced into the barrel and drifts out after the barrel return to the fully extended position. We have only tried this on the bench but it did work and is a cool effect.I will be able to give some more detailed information once Dan gets back,so maybe a week at most. And I would like to also to advise all members that our new element will work with the stock H/L smoker and does not suffer from the over wetting problem,it is a straight forward and simple install that reqiures soldering two wires and your done.Cheers to all,and their is some more interesting I/R equipment on the way.Cheers Blake

Re: New Smoker design
looks great but wouldnt know where to start with anything with wires lol
Re: New Smoker design
You won't have any problem with wiring, the two wire plug goes in the smoker socket the fan wires tap into one set of motor connectors, your done.We can supply a detail drawing of the wiring and tubing routing.
