hi all just a quick question or two i have seen a few restored vehicles and some have the wheel nuts painted white and the hub nuts painted red does anyone know why this was and was it aplyed to tanks in the field?

Stug ,don,t know about the coloured nuts , but on the scammel if you took off a wheel you did not undo the red nuts............
And to the best of my knowledge the pershing was never fitted with a cullen hedge cutter because it was too late in the war ,and that piece of hardware was only used in the bocage. france........
remember they used the german anti-boat girders too make these strange cutters.from the d-day beaches......

Hi,
If you are modelling a WW2 or post war vehicle, don't paint the wheel nuts.
I've seen this done on some over restored softskins, but as far as I know it was never done in "real life" unless the vehicle had been tarted for display or parade vehicles, in which case the green paint would probably be gloss finish.
If you look closely at some of the colour film of the Russian parades in Red Square some also show combat vehicle wheel rims outlined in white.
