Well I went and did it. Replaced the microswitch on my Asiatam recoil unit then replaced the wiring to match the Tamiya set up and then connected the unit ready for a test. No gun or spring so as not to overload anything. Guess what ?. You got it the Asiatam unit started to cycle then STOPPED so did the sound on the MFU. C"*p thought I and switched off everything damm quick. Disconnected Asiatam unit and reconnected Tiger 1 turret to run a self test on the MFU, and yes it's STUFFED. The recoil just keeps cycling. When I turn on the transmitter and hit the fire button the recoil flashes and recoils fine but it then just cycles several times. To be honest I am thinking of jacking in the hobby this morning as I feel so pidled off with it all. I think the main problem is I know it's my fault and I was warned about messing with things. Well I'm off shopping with the wife ( who I have NOT yet told that I am looking at £100 quid to replace a shot MFU as I think she will be saying YFO yes the third word will be off). All the best for now
Alan
As long as you made no modifications to the MFU itself you can send it back to Tamiya to be repaired or replaced for free. They have a lifetime guarantee. Just look on their website. The even fix them if you've cut the Tamiya battery connectors off!
Rik, i've heard that Tamiya replace faulty MFU's but I don't see on their website or The Hobby Company (their UK agent) what the process is - could you provide the link? Mine has no left turret drive since the elevation wire jammed in the motor teeth!
Alan don't give up on the MFU, did you uy the tank in the UK or did it come from abroad, I was sorry to hear that you burned the recoil circuits.
I have emailed the hobby company with a question about my Jagdpather MFU to see where I can get it mended as it came from HK
Hi Are you sure the microswitch is working this sounds like the problem you get with asiatam recoil units on Heng long tanks the switch dosnt close and open the circuit so stop it from cycling .Try wiring it to heng long electrics to make sure it works correctly,Cant do much harm to these boards could even use a board thats burnt out the fets.
Cheers Pete, I did test the Tiger 1 recoil system prior to testing the Asiatam unit and it was fine. It won't even work on the MFU self test now as the flash just keeps flashing. And cheers Fleshy I will do that. First off though I will go over my Dad's and test everything on his Tamiya KT ( not the bloody Asiatam unit though lol)and see whats what. Thanks for the advice guy's

Hi Just trying to help I have 2 asiatam units and both of them did this had to fit a different microswitch to make them work ,I suspect this is the problem and not the DMD/mf unit these are very reliable,I wont buy anymore asiatam units because of this ,I use the new recoil unit that goes in the Stug and modifie it to work correctly have also made a BBgun to recoil the first one works fine second not so good.
