That thanks to BREL for his excellent article on the HL tx mod and recoil for the spare parts
to do a pair of 3 to 1 reduction gearboxes(and all standard nylon gears too)I now have one
superbly driveable Tiger :D :D :D .

Many thanks gents  .

This one for the tx mod:

and this for 3 to 1 reduction gearboxes

http://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/v ... f=38&t=658" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I got the spares to do the gearbox mod from recoil, but followed the article above(done by the late, great Tiger205)and those mentioned in the text to make them.

The tx mod alone makes a Tiger far easier and nicer to drive, but the modified gearboxes too make it superb.

Thanks to MIggers, who modded a set of gearcases for me, I now have both these mods on my KV-1.

The difference it makes to driving is amazing - far more realistic and controllable than stock and enough torque to climb the side of a house.

A word of warning however; the gearbox mod will slow your tank down to walking pace (slower than my PZIII with 4:1 asiatams), which whilst perfect for a big, heavy tank like a Tiger or KV may be too slow for smaller, lighter tanks, or simply too slow for some tastes.

Andy is spot-on,they make a 50 tonner move like a 50 tonner should.
The so-called "super-spins"?,what're they??.
My Tiger now performs a steady pivot turn on the spot without throwing a track, admittedly,
I've only tried it on newspaper(tracks full of dried mud see :shh: )but on my work surface.
Previously it was way too quick to risk driving it on a surface four foot off the kitchen floor.
The acid test will be out in it's natural element(well, the garden).

Something else I did while the sprockets were off was to check them for moulding
burrs and pips.
Making sure the tracks can seat in the sprockets properly should help to reduce throwing too.
