Tiger 1 exhausts

Hi All

I'm painting a tiger 1 (early(ish)) in winter white wash and I have removed the exhaust shields.

I painted the exahusts dark rust as I believed that would be the correct colour, but today on the Tanks" program I saw a close up of the rear hull of an early tiger 1 and the exhaust had been painted the same colour as the rest of the rear hull?

So my question is should the exhausts be white washed or left dark rust?

hi jim i think you would white wash them and then soot them as the old tiger would chuck out some smoke . behind the heat sheilds i would light rust then put them back on . but thats just me
