metal gearbox help?

seeing as it was snowing i took my tiger out for a spin and it was brilliant! but when driving it back in the right track just got slower, i thought it was due to all the ice but even after desfrosting it the gearbox is really lagging power and speed, the other one is fine, does anyone have any idea of what is casuing it?

Change the power Leeds,plug left to right,right to left.If the gear box starts working normally you have a control issue.If not it is in the gearbox.Also check the pinion gear on the motor,is it slipping or binding against another gear?Had this problem in a similar situation,it was the pinion gear in my case.Sax

it works fine in reverse but serious lack of power forwards i switched them so forwards has power now but ofc reserve is lagging alot, the gears all look fine, ive checked them all and they seem to all be in the right place, could it be the motor?

Hi Check the pinion gear isnt slipping on the motor drive shaft the only way to see if its this is to put the tank on blocks ,the other thing it could be is the track is not on correctly something out of line could be an idler or one of the other wheels

i took the tracks off to see if it was them but still lagging have checked the pinion gear but still no signs of slipping, may take the gear box apart and put it back together and align it all, thanks guys

if you have a spare motor control, might try switching it.

Try giving a good listen to the drive motor on the wonky gearbox. If necessary, disconnect the other motor to cut down excess noise. Also turn off the smoker.

When the gearbox starts lagging in output, listen to what the motor is doing. If something is slipping somewhere in the gear train, the load on the motor will be reduced and it will sound like it is revving up a bit. On the other hand, if something is binding in the gear train, the load on the motor will be increased and you will hear the revs drop as it works harder against the resistance.

One other possibility, if your box is running the cast white metal gears, is damage to some of the teeth on one of the gears. When the damaged bit comes around it lets the adjacent gear slip a bit. It's the kind of problem best caught early because the damage can spread on the bad gear quite quickly.

Ummm...did you reverse the leads? Try the left motor in the right power socket to see if the other motor is weak. if it is, the problem is in the power supply. If not, then the problem is the motor (assuming you checked the gearbox).

yeah i tried changing the wires round and the motors seem fine i think it might have to do with me forgetting the grease up the gearboxes
