Working Tiger Commander

Post by torpedochief »

Well I have the mechanics all complete. Just giving the detail some detail. Oh andto put his other arm back on.

Most of you folks are far more talented than me so please use this idea and see how you can improve it.

All it took was a bit of tube and somewire. I'll hook it to a tiny servo and away we go!

Enjoy!

Don

Really like that commander Don,how is the arm manipulated? Is it like an eccentric lobe or direct gear? The figure will be supported by the tube and a servo will rotate the shaft correct? I would very much like to copy this modification. If you are willing to instruct me in the construction process, correct me if I'm wrong but the ammo tray could remain if the servo were mounted under the tray and the tube could be supported by the same tray? Great Idea, really makes for a fine Tiger commander, have never seen anyone create such a modification.Take care my friend,Blake

Blake I'm almost embarrased, it was that easy.

I'll get some pictures of how to do it, and give you all the details. This one took a week of R and D, but now I kinda laugh cause it is that simple.

Thanks Friend!

Hi Don nice work ,thought about making a guy pop up on the Stug because there is a spare channel but didnt think that making him like this well done ,He would look great in a Jagdpanther and there is a spare channel to make him work, also goes for the Stug ,the spare channel is because theres no traverse.
Look forward to seeing how its done.

Working now on three systems to drive the little guy. One for use by those who operate a six channel radio. One for Elmod using 4,and for RX-18. Ialso just figured out how to have both arms doing something.
Next is having a Figure lift the hatch rise up from the turret. Then when he needs to button up he desends back and shuts the hatch.

You can do just about anything with these guys.

Fantastic work Don. I've seen the 1/6th guys moving commanders, and always wanted one for my 1/16th's. Shame i've used all the channels on my tank! lol

Cheers,

ot to worry grim, I working a a little device to still make the guy work. One of the reasons I made this was that a 1/6th guy said it could not be done in 1/16.

I'll be posting a "How to" very soon.

Hi Don Just thinking about the RX18 you could also use the M.G. Channel to operate the commander /hatch as long as it works on a full rotation I.E. no reverse when you prees the M.G. button it would give a signal to move a servo but only one way,Or you could use the traverse channel even on a normal tank to turn the commander or open/close hatch but it would have to a limit switch.
If you are using other radios it may be posible to have the commander turn the same way the tank turns using a spitter on the reciever, hatch opening and commander popping up may be posible using something like undercarrage retracts from an aircraft.
