general sound question hl ...wineing sound ?

Post by mcevoyi »

hi all

i have several hl tanks .. to day i added to my colledtion .. and decided to actualy powere up my nice shiny new panther !

i fire her up .. and noticed a wineing sound thats quite loud .. so check that the smoke gen is off ant off it was . so i thought may be a small problem ..so tryed one of my JP's .. same problem ...the sound almost like feedbck ..but its constant high pitch tone .. that dose not change when the tank is mobile or just sat there .. its on 3 tanks that i have checked

any got a fix ??? or do i just live with it and upgrade one day ???

I'm no expert but try the tanks in another room or another part of the house, you may be getting interference from another apliance

I have the same problem with my Tiger (RX-18 board ) Doesn't matter where its run, although the wine is transient.

as mcevoyi says its probably rf from the motor and one of the capacitors will have broken down, and beware cos that cat will have it's revenge 8o|

I don't think the noise is feedback or poor suppression, I think it is the switching frequency of the FET's that drive the motors. The suppression capacitors wouldn't cure this. To a degree i've had success in getting rid of the sound on idle by adjusting the trim on the transmitter to nearer the motor bite point. I think this problem is peculiar to RX18's
