Towing cable fixings

Post by Jofaur86 »

:D Hello everyone, a quick question regarding the tow cable attachment on a Jagdtiger (among others): were the removable parts holding the cable in place fixed by a simple nut, or a wing nut system? Thanks in advance.

Tiger 1 and King Tiger used wing nuts as you know so I would imagine Jagdtiger would be the same. Using a wing nut to secure is a lot faster and you do not need to go into a tool box .Also you won't have a chance of losing the wing nut as it will be staying on its threaded sharft. My thoughts Mate.

DId some research for you Mate. Google Kubinka Jagdtiger and you will see some nice side on shots of the tow cable brackets and their location. Wing nuts are used.

Yes, captive wing nuts.
The JT I saw in Aberdeen Proving Ground had them.
I believe the end of the threads had a ding in them to prevent the wing from being removed all the way off & lost.
Once the wing is loosened enough, it can flip out of the way & the tool or cable bracket opened. But the wing would not fall off.

Hello everyone,
Thank you for your replies... I kind of suspected that, but only Axel in Germany carries Schumo? And the shipping costs are higher than the equipment itself? Well, I'll see. Have a good day everyone.

If it is Wing nuts you are after ABER make them,
Be careful because they come in 2 different types.
They are not cheap but unlike the "Schumo" wing nuts Abers actually work.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:
