New idea for 'External Aerial' on our tanks.....

Hi Guys, :D
Just keep reading I do get to the point further on, this is just a start.
I know that most of use are unhappy with the plastic Heng Long towing hausers as supplied with their tanks. Most of the pictures that you see of Tigers, they have the hausers already attached to the towing eyes to save time and lives if they are needed, during combat. People tend to cut the ends off and then make their own wire to attach to the hollowed out Heng Long towing eyes. Personally I use a gauge of wire that is similar and then cut the wires to length. I then clamp one set of ends in a bench vice and put the other ends in an electric drill chuck and then push the button to ' twist' the wire until it looks about right, then cut it to length and add the ends.
NOW ! for the EXTERNAL AERIAL......if you look at the pictures 3 and 4 of the rear deck of my Tiger 1 you will see the hauser, now look just behind the wooden crate and in front of the X-shaped deck opening fitment.....can you see the slight irregularity in the Hauser ? That is where I soldered the thin aerial wire from my control board onto the hauser. This way I have a copper aerial that runs completely around the Tiger giving excellent reception but still manages to remain almost invisible !

Alb

I do the same to make cables using coax ariel cable and that is a good idea to make the cable a functionable ariel regards Jack.

Seems to be a good way to have better reception and retain the realistic appearance of the TIGER,sax

Hi M41a3, :~
I have tried the internal aerials but I can never get them to work properly ! I have cut the wire to exact wave length ' Length ' and coiled it inside tubes and around rods but I found that I always ended up with a 'Blind-Spot' where the tank could not receive the transmitter signals.

Alb.

Hi Dietrich.
If your lower hull is of metall, you need to attach it to the upper hull. I glued my to the upper hull. Here is pzrwest antenna mod: http://www.hobbyhavoc.com/forum/index.php?topic=155.0

Hi,
I spent about a day trying to make the internal aerial work but simply couldn't get any distance with the Transmitter :'( , at that point the hull was just a standard plastic one.The link was where I first found the internal aerial. It just seems that some Tanks work and that some do not. I am happy now with my External aerial and the 'fake' in the correct position on the exterior of the deck.I also prefer the 'real metal' hausers to the cast plastic ones,so it kills 2 birds with one stone. :D
