Armed trawler

Post by AlanWhite »

This is my standoff scale scratch built WW2 armed trawler
i built this about 30 years or so ago using a styrene hull and plasti card for the superstructure I also used wood veneer marked with black biro for the deck and wheelhouse
I used the cover of a book called trawlers go to war as a basis of how it should look

Cheers
Alan

Apart from being amazed by your scratch-built trawler, I find the camouflaged hull remarkable. Seen--or, rather, unseen-from any distance, those colors would be invisible against the water, especially in low light.

ohh by way the colours are dark sea grey light grey and turquoise and yep it is effective camo
its an Admiralty disruptive pattern a fore runner to the western approaches of white sky blue and duck egg green

I have kept modeling paints for years, even through the years when I had not chance to do any modeling. So "Dark Sea Grey" "Light Sea
grey" are familiar colors way back to the now defunct Testor's Enamels (I still have some in fine condition). A turquoise is not among all my too many paints. I have always wanted RC planes and ships, but with O gauge trains; 1/48 train buildings; 1/16 farm models; 1/16 tanks, etc.; 120 mm figures; 54mm toy soldiers; 1/18 model airplanes--it has so stop somewhere.
