New to tanking

Post by Flyboyz4 »

Hi everyone, I’m Derick and I’ve been interested in RC tanks since I was a kid. I was a bit of a tank nut as a kid and I’ve delved into other areas since, but still love tanks. I spent a whole lot of time on YouTube watching guys in Europe with their 1/6 and 1/16 tanks and absolutely loved them. Sadly as a kid I didn’t have the money for either. I did however have rc 1/24 tiger 1 (early) from VS Pro which was my gateway drug. I’m currently in college at the time of this post (mechanical engineering) and do a lot of RC related projects. I do a lot of 3D printing and CAD modeling as well. I’m hoping that joining here will encourage me to build my own rc tank.

Welcome to the forum. Story sounds familiar. Building your own tanks can be pretty easy with a nice 3D printer even in 1/6th scale. I've printed a KV-1 and an M3 Stuart in 1/6th scale. I've also scratch built some paintball battle tanks.

Well. You have come to the right place, most of us have built our own using old school methods (styrene sheeting) or those new fangled 3d printers. Some here have even fabricated metal ones
It’s your tank it’s what you make it
