My Tiger - started many moons ago :shifty:

Asiatam hull ( yes , the 'original' it's that old ) Now has Henntec tensioner , steel 'boxes with drive shaft bearings , Hull top bracing strip
plus some magnets to keep it together . All the usual stuff :/

Ditto the HL upper mods - re centered turret ring ,opened hatches , 'late' engine deck details.
I also removed the mud guards , with a big hacksaw @) no messing about here , I'll have proper carnage , me.
According to refs the hull is 1mm too narrow - so the sides were then skinned with .020" / .5mm styrene , CA , trim , quick , simples ,job done :D

Next the turret , a Taigen recoil jobbie , courtesy of Dave 'n Julie @ Forgebears emporium . Again this too received the cut 'n shut treatment to correct the shape , with the later '40mm' roof etc. plus a scratched new lower part with recentered ring.
Mantlet mod.JPG
Mantlet mod.JPG (524.11 KiB) Viewed 293 times
The Mantlet was also narrowed to suit , the trunnions were recentered more to scale - a packing piece is needed here. and a bit of fettling with the recoil unit because this new fulcrum point alters the elevation a little .

Steel wheels- oh yes ,lots of them .
So , for a break I did some more painting.

- All this will fade under a filter and weathering .
Time for a lay down , back soon . B.

You've definitely done some great work here. I'm glad you came back to share how it all came together.

Little blocks of styrene for the Mudguard mounts and cable hooks from heavy duty packing staples An idea I pinched from another forum member :shh:

I used Voyager P .E. sets # 16009 Mid production , # 16011 Fenders and # 16012 engine grills .
16009 is quite comprehensive , and has a nice metal track cable that comes with resin ends , these would be too fragile so I used the solder 'paint' to do the entire cable , then slipped on a piece of brass tube , bent the wire back onto itself and resoldered it permanently.
after checking it for length I did the same at the other end . It helps retain the shape and gives a realistic metal look
Fenders.

[AND NOW . . . . ZIMMERITT !

This is a test piece - Milliput , about a pea size at a time . Spread out almost paper thin , levelled with water until smooth
Now the secret - I 'obtained' a tool from a Hobby boss kit - a kind of 1mm pitch etched saw edge thingy , (maybe a used saw blade might work)
Then I coated the milliput with dish washing soap - it stops the milliput sticking and dragging damaging the finnish , stopping frequently to wash the tool .
Leave overnight , and rinse off with water , loadsa bubbles ! when dry -

Bravo, blimp: I made mental note of the heavy box staple trick and your Zimmerit method. The surgery on the turret and gun mantlet impress me.

For the rear panel I decided to go for the minimalist look , the heat shields had to go .
The original HL exhaust covers were built up with green stuff , cast texture was done with dissolved styrene and some sprue 'rivets' made the lifting lugs .

Final bits .
The voyager fenders are fully posable - and fragile , I may glue/solder them.

Adding the missing rivets to the turret bin , spare aerial tube from brass , and engine screen.
- the Voyager engine mesh panels are slightly too big , so I re-framed them with scrap PE and added pins for better location.

Turret was Zimmed by hand , to give the typical henschel look.
Voyager clamps , fire extinguisher holder and cleaning rod holders fitted.

I tried to get Taigen tow cables , no luck so I reworked some Mato ones , replacing their iffy ends with HL parts.
Paint

Sorting the clasps and tool positions
The paint job was a base of light homebrew Dunkelgelb , some light chipping/wear - followed by a coat of future floor polish ,coz I'm cheap ;D then a thin filter of grey/umber , finished off with matt clear.
The dirt is weathering pigment -just sprinkled over clear coat in places like the missing mudguard areas and under the fenders /lower hull etc.

Radio gear is HL's TK 7.0 , no need for fancy servo's here. The Taigen Xenon flash was replaced with an ordinary LED. I.R. No I.R. - yet.
So that's about it. Thanks for looking . B.
