Officially Retired 05/30/2025
Good Afternoon!
50 Years and Done. Signed off the Phones on my last Account to Support today a few minutes ago. They are heading to India for Offshore Support. God Speed Folks. I have hung up the Headset. Spouse is prepping a Honey-Do List for me while I chuckle and wring my hands in an evil manner at the thought of years worth of Time that I can now spend on _Things that I Want To Do_ Tanks, Target Shooting, Books and Home Improvement Projects pretty much are the List. Thank you Folks and the Forum here for helping me remain focused on what mattered during the last years of my Career. Gotta go finishing signing up to start receiving my Tithing that I have worked for so long to receive. After that, I've got the P Turret Upper Hull sitting on the Counter ready to work on again. It's going to be a good Retirement I think.
regards,
Painless

God speed Sir. Enjoy retirement. You’ll be back in 18 months. That’s roughly how long it takes in the UK to work it out that off shore does not work.

Re: Officially Retired 05/30/2025
Gentlemen!
Thank you. I've been working since I was barely 15 (lying about my age to keep a roof over my Mom who was passing from Emphysema) When She passed away, I went back to School and finished up. It's been a whirl since then with the Obligations of having almost anything worthwhile in America keeping ones nose to the Grindstone. Herman is right. Only in the last decade have I felt anything like some weight off of my shoulders with owning Home and Property outright. At my age now, I kind of appreciate having time to do something that's fun and only really benefits the kid inside of my spirit. Been a long time coming.

Painless

Painless Wolf Finally you have stopped
and soon you will be wishing you were back at it because my old friend you are about to start questioning where has all the time gone,
You thought you were busy before well you aint seen nothing yet, I retired in 2012 and what with stents and cataracts (Thanks for the advice
) and a recent 3 week spell in hospital which turned out to be heart failure, It is a condition apparently rather than chatting to the grim reaper
and I still have to find time for the important things which is why at 1/4 to 2 in the morning I am trying to fix a gearbox mount in a PZ4 and I will wager you will find yourself in the same state very soon,
Enjoy your retirement make sure the mate doesn't leave you doing all the chores and guard that back of yours and enjoy.
Shaun.

Jarndice,
Thank you, Sir. Yes, the Medical Stuff seems to go on and on. It keeps you here and me somewhat upright! So worth it! I'll keep an eye out for being Overworked by the Spouse and try to call it a night at a decent hour to rest my eyes.
with all regards,
Painless

I also moved into the category of "Now living out my days"...
And I also had dreams, as we say, "When I retire... then I'll do what I wanted!!!"
Naive dreams...
Immediately a bunch of "necessary things" appear that push hobbies into the background, and then there are grandchildren, I need to help my son with his house outside the city...
In short, I have a lot of unfinished projects that I conceived before retirement and so far I have not been able to complete them...........
I hope everything works out for you!!!!

Re: Officially Retired 05/30/2025
Last year August I retired too, after a working life of 47 years!
Started at the age of 17, so I thought it was time to quit and enjoy life with the Lady of the House, grandkids, doggy and so on.
Retired 2 years earlier, actually I had to work till 67.
There has never been anybody who said, I wished I did work 2 years longer....
No, they probably would say, wished I had stopped 2 years earlier!
So Mr.Painless, enjoy your retirement!
I did not regret one single moment of this step.
