Gonna say no. The Hooben and Tamiya tanks use a double flat on the output shaft. Taigen/Torro/Heng Long use a single flat. So a Tamiya sprocket won't physically fit those unless you grind a second flat onto the output shaft. It will work the other way around if the output shaft is the same diameter.

:) Personally I used Tamiya pinions (after making a second plate on the axle) and it works very well, with Taigen tracks by the way!!!

Do you mean you used Taigen tracks with a Tamiya sprocket?

:) Yes, that's right, yet I had been informed that it was not compatible? and yet it worked. Initially this tank did not have engines (static model) so installed HL engines, then after having acquired Tam. (used) I kept the tracks.

The difference here is that Jofaur installed HL gearboxes and made the single flat shaft a dual flat shaft. So in that case, yeah it will work. If you want to do that conversion then it will work. If you want to keep your Tamiya gearboxes...it won't work.

Well, maybe I didn't explain it well? On the HL engines I filed the axles to adapt the Tam pinions. Then having found (good price) Tamiya engines, replaced the HLs and kept the tracks. It seems to me (from memory) that I slightly recut the tip of the pinions? 8O

:O Well? you made me doubt... I'll look tomorrow, I wonder if the HL pinions are not suitable for Tamiya motors? or there, there, my poor brain :lolno:

Someone correct me if I am wrong. But Taigen, Torro. Heng Long etc have 8mm diameter gearbox to sprocket shafts. Whereas Tamiya has a smaller diameter shaft, like 7mm (can't remember actual diameter). Therefore, it is more involved than just filing an extra flat.
