One for the Sherman followers.

Post by Meter rat »

This popped up on my face-book feed. I’m not a Sherman guy, but I did find it an interesting photograph. I’m not sure if it has been whitewashed for winter, or if it is dirt. I do like the Gipsey wagon look.

Below all that mud, I think I see a large hatch composite hull Firefly. Gad, what a mess!

It is a good photo, beneath all that mud there does appear to be a white wash and some weld lines across the armour plate on the hull, I would say it’s a hybrid

Here's the original photo from the website "Tank Archives". The poor colourizing attempt on the War Room site makes it look like a diorama, albeit a very well done diorama.

Indeed, a hybrid Firefly according to the captioning on Tank Archives.

Mike.
When I saw the first photo, I thought it was a diorama, which had been left outside and a bird or two had pooped on it :haha: the man doesn't look real lol.

Thanks Meter rat and ColemanCollector for sharing these pictures

Ditto on the commander looking a bit like an aliexpress figure.

How did those fellows keep all that c :{ p affixed to their Sherman? Some of it (e.g. the crate or box on front right fender) looks like it was CA glued in place as on some models. :haha:

Photos like these were probably made in the Netherlands or Belgian Flanders. The first the Britisch, Canadian and Polish troups had to concquer was the mud. Tons and tons of mud. This is where the 'duckbills' proved their value bij spreading the weigth over a larger surface. But still the tanks, trucks and jeeps sank deep into the loose wet soil.
