A big thankyou to Pete 971 wright

Post by BREL »

good news The tiger 1 of mine that broke an idler mount shaft where it entered the hull at the Swindon meeting, has been fixed thanks to Pete 971 Wright, I asked him if he had a lathe or pillar drill to bore out and tap the idler to fit a new shaft and also do the same to the unbroken one.
so I sent him the parts on Thursday the 8th Oct and he did the repairs and posted them back the same day he received them on the Friday and I got them back on the Saturday and spent the Saturday Evening putting the tiger back together.
so Many thanks pete and I will get you a beer or two when we meet up.

these are the broken idlers I sent to Pete along with the silver steel bars to be fitted, I also sent the idler mounting because the silver steel bar was a tad too big to fit and Pete polished them to the correct size to fit

and here are the mended idlers that he sent back by return of post along with the mounting(not shown)

here is a shot of the inside of my tiger showing the silver steel shafts

the shafts were made this long so that I could align the idlers and road wheels. I am also looking at a way to tie them together to stop the rear hull from flexing

Hi Stewart If you want to increase the strength to stop it flexing ,Try looking in your local model shop for 5/32 bore Brass tube ,cut it to length which is just able to slide it down between the 2 adjusters ,pull the shafts back and into the tube this should keep the rear end in shape and still allow the adjusters to work .
