Good day from Kiwiland
Good day from Kiwiland
Good day from New Zealand.
Scale models were my hobby, but it stopped a few years ago.
On the other hand, I have always wanted RC Tanks, and with the 3D printing I got into a couple of years ago, I thought, why shouldn't I print and build them?
So, here I am.

Kia-ora mate, from the soggy Gold Coast of Australia out of the Bay Of Plenty, New Zealand, some 20 years ago !!
I also began with the small scale wargaming stuff a million years ago & got into the RC tanks by fluke 10 years ago or so.
The 3D printing art is a thing that I wish I was smart enough for as it can really open up the range of options.
I think of 3D printing like an Rc tank version of the Make A Wish Foundation !!
Great to have you along .
Where are you located in the Aotearoa/Shaky Isles ??

Kia-ora mate
! Thank you for your warm greeting. I'm from Christchurch. There are now quite a few consumer-friendly printers, both FDM and resin. Bambu Lab X1C is basically a plug-and-play printer. With a bit of testing and learning, you can get pretty good results.

Welcome to the forum Art. Sounds like you have some good history with resin printing. As that type of 3D printing is fast evolving I am sure your experience will be welcomed! I look forward to your tank builds. I saw your other post in our build threads so I'm sure you found our large scale and 3D sections.

Hello, hello, hello! Two from down under in one day. This is fine. But gentlemen, I am not so sure about Bix's claim that he "got into the RC tanks by fluke 10 years ago or so." Bix was active on the former Australian "Hobby Havoc" forum, and that was more than ten years ago! I think he's pretending to be younger than me.

Welcome to the forum Art. We Kiwi's are a bit thin on the ground here and even members from the Southern Hemisphere. Its nice to know that there are other members that reside in the Land of the long white cloud. Mr Herman Bix is always referring to his Heritage even though he is a Aussie import now. Anyway , there is a great bunch of enthusiasts who avoid politics which is always the downfall of any club as many can probably relate to. Happy tanking Art. Regards John.

Re: Good day from Kiwiland
Thank you, Ecam

Due to my limited storage space, I'm interested in some light pre- and earlier WWII tanks in 1/10 scale and bigger tanks in 1/16 scale.
I've got a few printable models from different makers but decided to start with the FT17 model designed by Lubos Hort. It was my dream tank to have when I was a kid

With resin, it is awesome for decorative parts, but I'm not sure about the functional/working parts. From my experience normal resin has a heat deflection temperature of around 65C, and under continuous load and heat it tends to deform.

Hello and welcome from Argyll and Bute in Scotland. 3d printing is witch craft as far as I am concerned. But then the mobile phone confuses me. Excellent work you are doing.
