Hello everyone,
I have been lurking on and off here for the last few months. I bought a HengLong Leopard 2A6 early in the year and have been slowly upgrading it, making a total mess of it, and then fixing my messes.
Currently I've successfully:
Upgraded it to 7.1,
Added metal wheels, suspension arms, tracks.
Added smoke and flash when it fires.
Added a yellow warning light to the roof.
I copied a lot of the advice from Mr TanksALot, so I added vision blocks and am in the process of painting it.
I still have a lot to do as well though.
I finally made an account so I can join in the discussions and in the future share some pictures of the tank.
I also am trying to get in contact with the company IMPACT. They haven't answered their email, I don't know if I got caught in the spam filter thought. I'm trying to source a set of the metal turret baskets for my Leopard.
If anyone has contact for them so I can buy a set I'd be grateful.
Hello
Re: Hello
Well welcome to the forum then. I'd guess since you lurked and finally still joined up we haven't scared you away
I'd assume you know Mr. Tanks alot is a member here too?
When I do venture into the MBT zone the Leo will be my first and I too will take his lead. I actually have one planned just too many other things and work keeping me busy at the moment. There was a good deal on one from MotionRC recently but I got swayed by a deal on another WWII model from Toucan instead.
I'm interested in what you discover with the Impact turret baskets because IMO the ugliest part of the LEO is the plastic bins.
Welcome again, Cheers

Re: Hello
Impact is in a kinda weird position. They are technically not producing anymore tank products and concentrating on their other core businesses. Whatever those are. They are still selling anything they have left so I wouldn't expect too much in the way of a speedy response at this point.GullibleFool wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 2:23 am I also am trying to get in contact with the company IMPACT. Hello and welcome from Argyll and Bute in Scotland. I’ve just come over all unnecessary. SOMEONE WHO HASN’T BOUGHT A TIGER, as a first tank. I congratulate you sir, on your fine choice. My Leopard 2, is currently waiting its turn to be upgraded.
He wants a Challenger 2 really, because he knows that will keep him occupied for a considerable time.

Re: Hello
If you can make this statement, GullibleFool, you are already a sophisticated modeler: "making a total mess of it, and then fixing my messes." A IPMS world-wide modeling champion from here in Wisconsin once told me that fixing the messes is the real skill. Paint is for hiding goofs. For electronics, "smoke 'em if you got 'em."

Re: Hello
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.
I am glad I am not alone making a total mess of trying to upgrade the tank and having to fix it afterwards!
I will post some pictures of the Leopard once I get it put back together. I actually think this time round things will work!

Trust me you are in the majority of the members here. Most of us make disasters and then nurse them back into shape. There are only a few of the "masters" that can build cleanly start to finish and I envy them!GullibleFool wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 2:23 am
