Kradmelder Ostfront.

Post by Rob59 »

Last 2 weeks I've been busy building this BMW.
To be honest, this kit is a real PITA, I can assure you.
Lots of really small parts, of which neither one seems to fit.
But I did the best I could to make it look like a real motorsickle.
There is also a sidecar in the kit, which I will start building these days.
I also do have 3 resin figures to fit the bike, but they need quite some adjustments too, before they fit onto the kit.
But those are problems for later.
Shipped the bike, together with the Kübel and some figures towards the Ostfront and took a few pics.
This time I tried to avoid big leaves which ruin the pics, like in the ones from my Kübel I posted lately ;)
Just noticed I need to ad the BMW decal onto the gastank :S .
I did cut the license plates out of a plastic card, because in this kit the decals for the plates are not printed completed on a white background. All numbers need to be put on one by one.
The plastic card made a better surface to stick everything on, compared to the bare plastic plates out of the kit.
Have a nice weekend!
Rob.

The mind's eye can visualize this scene. Reality in miniature. Intuitive modeling. Great job.

Made some more improvements in the meanwhile.
Added the missing decals, completet the license plates and added some mud onto the sides of the tires/license plates so it fits better to my Kübel.
Right now struggling with the sidecar…..

When you post larger pics from this small model, you can see every mistake made, even the mud on the tires looks less good, compared to pics taken from a slightly bigger distance.
My models mostly are used for outdoor pics, so the mistakes ain't that obvious any more because you look at 'm from a different angel/distance.
Nevertheless I show you how it looks at the moment.
Maybe some of you miss the clutch and frontbrake handles at the handlebar?
Well, the driver (one out of the 3 soldiers I have for this model) has the grips from the bars already molded into his hands.
So when the sidecar is done and attached to the bike, I must cut off the handlebargrips and make the hands of the driver, fit to the bars.
In the end I will glue the clutch/front brake handles onto the driver's hands.

 Hello, so I say "Bravo" if in black and white, it would give an impression of period photos. Everything is there, the setting, the equipment, the characters, etc. so superb job

Yeah, was wondering how the motorcycle was going to change gears and, most importantly, stop once going. :lolno: But, you answered that one! :D

Great work, Rob
