Modifying Battery Connectors

Post by Darug »

So, I have a few different devices, which have all different plugs.
* Tamiya
* XT 60
* Deans T
plus a 3 pin connector from an RC truck from Temu.

The 1st 3 should be easy to convert to XT60, being only 2 wires, however the RC truck has a different plug with a blue wire Image. Is it safe to ignore this and just use 2 wires?
I have a Imax Hobbyfans B6 charger, like this https://www.amazon.com.au/Hobby-Fans-Pr ... B09XC91BWJ

I'm going to say, no. If it's 3 wires then it's probably using the balance plug as the connection to the vehicle. The balance plug is used to balance both cells during charging. If you were going to go down to two wires for running, I would make an adapter cable that plugs into the old connector, but that's me. I like my Li-Ion batteries balanced and charged properly so they don't catch fire, but you do you. :) They make adapters to convert the Tamiya and Deans to XT60. The newer HL tanks are all XT60 plugs.

I personally like the over-molded type like these, but make sure you buy the right kind (IE: male or female to male or female for your use case): https://www.ebay.com/itm/296246373769?_ ... R6rHnubVZA
