It's very easy to do this yourself: take a Heng Long volume knob & remove the protruding white plastic knobby bit by prying it straight up & off. Then wire it inline (in series) with the existing speaker, running the extra wire down thru the screw holes in the chassis floor. These 2 wires attach to 2 of the 3 terminals on the potentiometer (you'll have to use a multimeter to figure out which pair of connections to use), then stick the volume pot to the bottom of the tank with a small piece of adhesive tape. All wiring is plug & play and non-destructive to the tank.

Looking under the tank, you can see that there is plenty of clearance between the ground & the knob, which can easily be adjusted with the tip of my finger.

Everyone in the house is now happy!
