Tank Newbie

Post by Hoghappy2000 »

Hello I look forward to learning everything about RC tanks. I've built and flown planes and built a lot of boats but this is my first tank. I live in Millbrook Alabama and don't know anyone around here to play with or to bend their ear on all my questions that I'm going to have. I chose for my first tank the early Edition Tiger1 from Toro. I'm trying to install the Beier SFR-1-HL board. Also am learning a new FlySky FS-SR8 radio to control it with. So what a learning curve! I've got the board installed and using Sbus interface for the first time I have managed to get the tank moving (right track is faster than the left), the turret rotating and elevating, the canon and engine sound. The rest is still a mystery. Maybe somebody can direct me to some help to get everything else working properly. Thanks so much for letting me join your group. Robert

Welcome from Texas. Can't help with the Beier board, but others on the site have used it so they may be able to answer your questions.

Hello thanks for the response. I have the IR version. The barrel recoil does not work nor does it Flash but I do get sound.

I'm not really concerned about the IR but I would like to get the machine gun working along with the Flash for it and the cannon recoil and Flash. Also I need to figure out how to adjust the tracks so that I can drive straight. I don't know if it's a wiring issue or a software issue. I feel like it's probably a software issue because the software is a huge learning curve and I still haven't figured out how to use all the radio settings either. This is the first time I've messed with anything RC in over 10 years. The last radios I used is my DX6s.

If I could figure out how to post pictures of the board install I would do that.

Taigen/Torros Tiger 1 MG will only work with Taigen/Torros own Control board, It annoys the bejesus out of members wanting to upgrade to a decent radio but it is what it is,
We have a member on the Forum who has more knowledge of the Beier boards than just about anyone else here.

Trust me Rad Schuhart is friendly helpful and very clever.

If that doesn't clear it up, let me know and I will help. I use Imgur (free to sign up and use).

Welcome from Ontario, Canada!
The Beier boards seem really versatile and they've even managed to tame the flying shrew that is the Coolbank Stuart. Rad's yer man for all things Beier.
Have tried the trims on your radio to even up the track speed for straight ahead running?

Mike.

Okay thanks so much. The machine gun is no big deal either. But I got to have Canon recoil and at some point I'm going to try to put smoke in that Barrel too. Tank on brother.
