Pontentiometer?

Hey, im looking to connect the motor from the smoke-generator to the HL7.0 board but using the connector for the “engine ventilator”
Which works, but the motor runs at a way to high speed.
(Im using the connector from the smoke gen for my moving MG build)
So thinking more power makes the motor go faster i should reduce the power, by adding resistance.
As i have absolutely no clue how much resistance i would need i figured id get a “variable resistance” i think thats called a potentiometer right?
I thought of getting a max 100 Ohm one, would that work?
Also seems to have 3 connectors, how do i connect it ?
1 red in, 1 red out? black to neutral?

Thx for reading, and explaining things to a nob like me.

Okay this helps me: https://youtu.be/sWbSeJmUFfw
But that still leaves how much Ohm i need, i know its 7.4V, but what Amp are we talking about?

Even with low voltage, resistors can get hot. Especially when slowing down motors.
I am more used to slot car motors, think scalextric, and how hot the hand controller gets when you don't use full speed much.
Anyway. I would suggest a ten ohm wire wound variable resistor/potentiometer or pot for short.

With three connectors/solder tags. Just use the middle one and any one of the other two. Depending on which one you chose, changes which way turning the dial goes up and down with the resistance.

I am probably going overkill with the wire wound pot, as the motor you want to use doesn't draw that much current.

I think the potentiometer it a terrific idea to slow down and adjust the servo's speed. 7.4v is the input volts (4.8 - 6v in earlier stuff) but I think some have said the HL output ports are well below the 7.4 input voltage.

Can't help with what ohm range as my scientific method if different than the smarter people. I just try a few - it couldn't/shouldn't increase volt/amps...

I do have a couple unused older systems in a box to do my "testing/experimenting" on and so far have not let any magic smoke out of the boxes.

:) Hello, for this it is necessary to calculate the value of the resistance? it is Ohm's law for this you must know the voltage (5/6 volts) and the motor consumption (Mah) which must here be very low. A potentiometer in the dimmer is connected between an outer terminal and the middle one, which is the center of the cursor. Personally I think that installing 2/3 diodes type 1N 4001/07/08 according to what is available in stores, I am attaching some quick diagram

“ I would suggest a ten ohm wire wound variable resistor/potentiometer or pot for short” i bought a set with several ranging from 1m to 1m ohm, guess i need to buy some other ones.

Thanks for all the tips!

You certainly don't need anything over 100 ohm's
Some of those old scalextric hand controllers are around 70-80 ohm

:'( OK, personally I was just trying to help? with simple solutions? now it's up to you to see and do according to your choice
