Heng Long. Been in storage
Hi all
For my 50th (9 years ago) I received a Heng Long Tiger tank. Never got a chance to have a proper go as I had young kids who always got in the way (yes I should share my toys I know).
Tried to get it going today. New remote batteries and left the tank battery charging all day.
The tank lights up. The remote lights up (after a but of battery rub)
But they aren't talking to each other. 9 years on a shelf remember!
Anyone any help or advice?? Probably something obvious but I'm not an expert.
Many thanks
Jimmy

Very possibly your tank's battery is not charging fully. When your tank does weird stuff, look at the battery. Nine years on a shelf--naughty naughty!

And you pressed the magic button on the remote control, it has an engine drawn on it....

There is also another sign, the first is a button, the second is a machine gun, the third is a cannon...

Nine years on the shelf?? Not good for the battery. Is it yellow (Nicd) or Green (Nimh)? which doesn't change anything about too long storage, without recharging.....more as you get older? the wires of the battery tend to oxidize, and do not conduct current, see also the plug (oxidized) I would say that it is time to invest in a new battery. On the transmitter at the bottom of the The antenna, there is a light, does it light up? You should have this type of platinum in the tank? this type of battery is suitable, but 2000 Mah will be enough
Re: Heng Long. Been in storage
I think my colleague has a vintage version at 27 MHz....
But in 9 years the battery has already met Peter and Paul at the gates of heaven...
We need a new one with no options...

Re: Heng Long. Been in storage
The battery is always the first suspect in such cases BUT the earlier Heng Long Tanks had a specific method of getting started,
I cannot remember whether it is Tank switched on then the controller is switched on or controller first then the Tank but get it wrong and it will just flash the headlights and nothing else.
First check all the connections, then charge a new battery and fit it then fit new batteries in the transmitter now first switch on the Transmitter making sure it is close to the front of the Tank then switch on the Tank give it a moment then when the headlights flash try starting it if no luck reverse the starting procedure and try again.

I think I am about to upset someone

Start by pressing the left button on the remote control....
Start by pressing the left button on the remote control.... And don't forget that megahertz equipment is very critical to the non-extended antenna of the transmitter....
The circuit is designed for an extended antenna, it already has 1/4 of the wavelength, and many make it even shorter... The output stage of the RF unit may simply not withstand it and burn out...
The range of the radio signal drops to tens of meters

Yes, correct, but hey, personally already made the antenna work, reduced the range, but not being very sophisticated electronics? Personally I don't think that's the problem!!! As said above by Jardinage, the first thing, in order, is to replace the battery, and if the original charger (which actually only has the name charger) common transformer and 4 diodes, allow 6/8 hours of charging for a new battery, there may also be a quartz problem? in the tank you must have an RX plate with a quartz on it, check that the numbers match? that they are well seated in their supports, non-oxidized contacts, and avoid dropping Otherwise HS, also check all the connections of your cables (always oxidized contacts) I know, that's a lot? there are specific bombs on the market, for electrical contacts

Receiver 27 Mhz HL the black wire is to be connected to the antenna, and the multi-strand (3 wires) makes the connection with the RX 18 plate, CN 8 Receiver Board socket
