Hooben Elephant with HengLong 7.1 MFU

Post by John Glover »

Been collecting parts for a Hooben Elephant build and was thinking of using a HengLong 7.1 with Tiger1 sound card. Also wanted to use a Tamiya unit as the hull machine gun. Can anyone tell me if this will work or what problems I will encounter. Regards John.

Should work mate. The 7.1 unit is very simple to work with, supports 2 servos AND the H/L type elevation mechanism.
The M.G. should be able to be wired to the corresponding plug that fits into the 7.1 socket with a simple cut & solder.
I have a Hooben Elephant too, long way from it being on the bench though so I will be looking at yours for progress.

Thanks for that Mate. Long way off yet .I like to try to obtain a lot of parts I need for a build first before starting plus still finishing the new house. Seen a couple of builds ,were they have used a Tamiya DMD and MFU units but the cost of these is bloody prohibitive due to their price and they would have to come out of Germany .Seen some of these on eBay at incredible prices. Frankly some one is dreaming or just trying to rip some one off. John.

DKLM RC has some suspension upgrades aimed at making it actually work right... :) Kind of expensive though.

Be advised, the DKLM suspension mods DO NOT FIT into an Aisatam lower hull.

Thanks guys .The DKLM suspension and track wheels are for a Hooben and I already have a set. Biggest hurdle with the kit to make it perform properly. John.

As a matter of fact, I have a Hooben Elefant too.
And I also ordered a few months ago, a HL TK-7.1 from Aliexpress for it.
Too many other projects laying around, so the Elefant is just sprayed in Oxide Red for now.
Crew is finished (4 guys).

Did the commander come from Aliexpress with the unusual helmet?
