Hello

Post by jmlangley1 »

I live in in SW Louisiana. I've had a 1:16 Heng Long Tiger 1 for about 3 years. My grandson and I have really enjoyed it. I've upgraded to metal tracks, idler wheels and metal drive wheels. I need to replace the chassis, because it has cracks. Now it's time to upgrade. I found this forum. Looking forward to any info or suggestions. Thanks

Welcome to the forum jmlangley1. Most of our Tiger I builds are here if you haven't discovered them yet. viewforum.php?f=134. Some more info on the Tigers can be found in our what to fix section. viewforum.php?f=35

Depending on your level of repair, chassis parts are available be depending of what you have to work with purchasing a new basic plastic Tiger I and swapping your upgrade parts to it may be a great plan too. I'll guess at 3 years old yours might have the MCU with 6.0 or 6.1. The current standards are 7.0 / 7.1 and are quite good. Lastly swapping out the lighter plastic parts to the cracked one (after repairs) would give you two running examples....

Hi JML, Welcome to the Forum
Everyone with a Heng Long Tiger 1 will be shouting into their Phone/PC/Tablet
"TAIGEN/TORRO Metal hull" :haha:
It comes with Torsion bar suspension and the dealer I am about to suggest has them with Metal Gearboxes, Metal tracks and wheels or just the metal hull and suspension AND best of all it comes with a Quick release that works just fine with either Taigen/Torro bodies or Heng Long bodies,
The dealer is UK based as of course is this Forum but Dave (A member of this Forum) sells around the world.
He and Julie are with no doubt the best dealer on this place go to ---- -www.forgebeartanks.com
You will not be disappointed,
You will of course have questions well we just love em not of course that we actually know any answers but try us anyway :lolno: Enjoy this place we do sometimes go off thread but it is all for fun but the moderators weild their authority with great effect (Watch out for SOAG I tremble in his presence ) :haha: :haha:
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Welcome to the forum jmlangley1 from up here in the hot and steamy Yankee land of New York.

A Tiger I you say? Loads of support here and plenty of friendly helpful members with at least 1. This is a UK based forum so don't be alarmed if you hear some funny accents, see some unusual words or don't quite get their offbeat humor, but be warned of the jellied eels  These are great folk that some of us rebellious colonists have invaded and would actually call friends 8O

Plenty of support for the Heng Long Tiger I. Adding a Taigen lower hull/chassis is a great way to upgrade. I also support Dave Allerton at Forgebear, excellent support and service, and go the extra mile when things like that don't exist these days. The only issue when ordering from the states is the high shipping charges, but if you need something they've got or can get, they are the best. I'll also suggest Taigen Tanks here in the states much closer to you over there in Florida- https://www.taigentanks.com/collections ... r-1?page=2

They carry the same or similar parts and are the U.S. Distributor of the Taigen tanks and parts we are suggesting, but looks like their Tiger I hull is out of stock. Their customer service isn't nearly as good as Dave's and Ironically their shipping isn't as quick as Dave's either. But as a testament to both I'll be a placing an order with both companies soon for some goodies.

Welcome again. Ask questions, get to know the forum and it's unique membership, get your tank Rollin again and above all HAVE FUN!

Oh dear, another Tiger enters the fray. :lolno:
I see our resident Tiger fondler, Mr Chef, has already welcomed you. I am sure he has alerts on his phone when someone enters Tiger 1.

Hello and Welcome, all the same, from Argyll and Bute, on the West Coast of Scotland. You are most welcome.

Classic, well stated Mr. Rat!

I ordered from Forgebear and a US company the same day. Dave's order arrived in three days (was in the US the next day) my US order arrived two days later and shipping was dead even between the two. Wouldn't hesitate to order from the UK again even though their version of English is different from ours. :D

Hello and welcome from up north, jmlangley1! You hit the jackpot when you said "Tiger I." So the good advice (with which I certainly agree) came rolling in. I hope you will keep us informed as you work on your Tiger.

Where is the "R" in Peugeot? Our Olympic annoncer has no "R's" and I've heard him in auto racing...

First Second Fird Forf Fifh...

Don't get me wrong I love the Brits they gave us life... They just give us abuse of how we treat the Queens English, and I'd submit some of them wreck it far more than our Southern members.

Top Gear UK is by far my favorite show and yes I like cheese on everything. If this gets me banned, I totally understand, if so I bid you all a fare farewell. "The English language, Two continents separated by a common language".

One of my favorite shows until they released Ed China was "Wheeler Dealers". Mike Brewer was in my mind the worst enemy to the "Queens" English than any other on the tele.
