Juts looking for some input or advice on this new build. I have a urge to build something bigger than 1/6 scale so going to try a Leopard or Type 10 1/4 scale. In terms of drive I was going to use two 500w wheel chair motors which could give me about 8mph through their gear boxes and massess of torque. If I wanted more speed what would be the best way to go?
1. Motors in board and drive through a chain to the drive sprockets. What size motors would I need?
2. Run the 24v wheelchair motors at 36v?
3 Another idea.
I dont want lots of speed 10-15mph but want to keep the torque.
What do others use in terms of drive to larger 1/4 scale?
Thanks Mark
1/4 scale Leopard tank
Re: 1/4 scale Leopard tank
I still like my geared scooter motors for most projects: https://tncscooters.com/index.php?route ... uct_id=337
It ends up being 480 RPM final speed, but if you put a larger sprocket than 9 tooth on the drive shaft can reduce the speed further creating more torque. I like them for the simplicity of the drivetrain - one gearmotor with sprocket to a single sprocket on the drive shaft.
