Post by Shagnifico »

Someone is trying to sell a new Torro LCM on eBay for $10,000. What the hell?

I've heard it is a practice that when available stock runs out run the price up to an outrageous number, when stock returns the price comes back down. Who, what and why? I have no idea.

The seller avoids paying for a new listing fee by (technically) not selling out

I also heard and witnessed when Chinese new year was happening prices jumped both on sites like Toucan and Ebay.

Sometimes it's for the "made you look" factor, and often the outrageous BIN listings have the make an offer option. Offer them the normal retail price and you might be surprised!

And sometimes they are just bonehead sellers. I've been a seller on ebay for over 15 years and my most exclusive items have sold to a very select group of Japanese and North American collectors. I never play games with them!

It's to avoid a relisting fee. Hence the ridiculously high price, who would be daft enough to purchase the last item.
