Panther G loose tracks assistance requested

Post by michaelwhittmann »

The HL instruction book is not helpful.

The back wheel is it a Phillips head or and Allen screw?

I don't want to strip it since I can't see it.

Should I remove the track itself?

Pictures could help or a link maybe.

:D Hello, is this a metal or plastic wheel? In principle there is a hub cover, which must (gently) be removed, in both cases? too bad I don't have mine here?

:'( Sorry photo quality....this kind of cover, pass a thin blade between this part and the wheel, see if it can be dismantled? Have you looked from the back if between the wheel and the side of the tank, not a hidden screw? what is the track tensioner?

A clearer photo...red arrow, part that needs to be removed? blue arrow, here you have to insert a thin blade and lever it, on both sides at the same time would be better, personal opinion

If it's the heng long idler with the hole in the middle then it's a phillips head screw Image

 So, it is necessary to remove the small cover in the center, and not where I indicated in blue?

Your picture is of a Taigen sprocket not a heng long the heng long has a hole in the centre with no cover the Taigen has a cover over the screw

The trick to the H/L idler is the balance of your phillips head screw driver tip size to its ability to fit through the hole in the hub to access it.
Once you find a driver to fit the hole, make sure you keep high pressure on it after its engaged in the screw.
if not, you risk tearing the cross out of the screw head and forcing you to dismantle the idler .

:) Hello Mr.Bix, correct, you need to have the right tool, adapted, I know that (France) there are 2 types? Philiphs, and Posidrive, but our Chinese friends seem to have another type, sometimes?
