Greetings from Amish Country (USA)...

I've wanted an R/C tank since the 1980's, and I decided to buy one (my first) this past weekend. It arrived Wednesday, July 3rd. It's a Heng Long T-34 with the metal tracks, sprockets and idlers, but plastic road wheels.

I'm very impressed. It can maneuver at a slow crawl, and the smoke effect is remarkably interesting!

I discovered this Forum just today. I've read a number of threads, and wanted to join right away.

Interesting first Tank,
I would suggest you go to the Build pages to see what has been done to the T34,
If memory serves there is a simple mod that needs doing to the tracks,

Welcome to the forum Sprocketrax from New York. I hope your Fourth was a fun holiday. The Heng Long T34/85 is a solid runner. I've had good luck with mine, zero issues thus far. I'm actually in the middle of rebuilding/refurbishing mine now.

The HL electronics have improved so much since those first releases. They used to be jerky jackrabbits; now they can be tortoises too, as you've noticed.
Are you a modeler, painter, or electronics whiz? Hoping to do lots of outdoor running, or mostly indoors? My tanks are mostly indoor vehicles, with the odd foray onto packed gravel. Great hobby that can be as complex (read expensive!) or as straightforward as you'd like.

Welcome from Cow Country, SprockeTrax! I am curious, too, if you have any modeling or other RC experience. Of course, experience is not required at all, but knowing a bit more helps us give better suggestions for how to spend more money.

Oh, MrChef, the holiday must have been stressful for you. I am glad, however, that you have "food luck with [your T-34]." True, with the tank there may be "zero issues thus far." But your brain has been cookin' too much.

I've enjoyed reading the above messages...so interesting, from all over the world. I did an inet search to learn more about Argyle and Bute!

I stopped building plastic models back in the mid-2000's, and sent most of my unbuilt kits to auction. I still have my airbrushes and the compressor...I can hardly wait to try them again!
