Recently bought taigen tiger 1 , very disappointed with quality of the plastic parts, very flimsy and unsatisfying, wish I'd just spent more and got the mato , so my question is can I marry up mato metal Upper and lower Hull parts with this tank , has anybody done this , or had similar issues with their taigen? Thanks

It's plastic. Not a tank. Get used to it.

So ok with the details and accuracy? The Heng Long, Mato and Taigens are really related companies. They differ in features and controls but are very similar beyond that. Mato has made some metal bodied tanks so I'm wondering if that is what you are referring to...

I've used a Mato metal turret on a build but is a difficult media to modify. But most of my tanks are of the plastic variety. They all can ke modified to stiffen the chassis or strengthen the deck that holds a heavy turret.

Give us more information on what you thing is flimsy and perhaps we can help with a solution. Welcome to the forum by the way.

I put my Heng Wrong upper on my Taigen lower. I think my turret is a Taigen upgrade as well. All plastic.
I highly recommend plastic for the upper deck and turret as metal is heavy and much more difficult to modify. Keep the metal below the waistline.

Yeah, Taigen plastic is brittle, mine Jagdtiger was destroyed in shipping few years ago

Combining Mato, Taigen and Heng Long elements sometimes causes problems (e.g. the turret ring may be different as in the case of my Sherman modification where the lower hull and turret is Taigen but the upper hull is Mato). Sometimes this means a lot of cutting, sanding and puttying

Hi, Welcome to the Forum
I have to warn you that while many Heng Long and Taigen parts are interchangeable Mato parts often are not.
The Mixture of Heng Long Body and Turret on a Taigen/Torro Hull is a well known combination that offers a Metal Hull with a quick release for the body,
The Mato back panel can be made to fit but it is very hard work although all of my Tigers have the metal Mato rear panel because I went through a series of rear panel locating tabs snapping on the plastic rear panels, If you do decide to go that way give me a heads up and I will talk you through it but in general I would avoid mixing Mato with the other brands. Enjoy this place and keep asking questions by the way where in the world are you I do hope it is somewhere exotic like Bloxwich or Sunderland

From what I have seen and felt, the Taigen is only second to Tamiya.
The Tamiya plastic is VERY flimsy, and you cannot buy parts for them without huge difficulty.
Taigen are very very good. Their electronics are dated but still very good sounding and have plenty of volume & are near enough correct for the tank they go in.

Instead of a whinge about a model you have bought and your opinion of it , how about a..........?

g'day folks, Im Timbo from ( insert rough geographic location) and I am interested in Rc Tanks in general & have just bought a Taigen. Do any of you have info on these Taigens & are they interchangeable with other brands of model in the same scale...................
