Finally completed my King Tiger build and I received a lot of help and just wanted to say Thank you to everyone who have helped me out along on this journey. Below I will also post issues I came across as a future post for people who build this tank and how to best solve them

1) Tank Recoil is forwards/Tank goes forward when pressing backward

Easy fix will be switching your drive channel to reverse but it only fixes that and not tank recoil where it still jumps forward, so swap motor wires within the same motor, flip your channel drive switch to whatever it is so from normal to reverse or vice versa

2) Weak or cannot rotate turret

Buy the TAM 72005 take out the clutch gear and install that lots of instructional videos on that

3) Gun elevation not working

Make sure the MT2 and MT3 is of the correct position

4) Road wheels not spinning

Play with the track tension, first lock the idler arm than tension it tightly down

5) Road Wheels

I built mine wrong with both disc touching each other leaving close to no gap when going between track teeth. Make sure to assemble it correct which means both disc in opposite direction, make sure back of A5 the nudge that sticks out wraps around the first disc and second disc with screws goes into the A5 holes. If built correctly A5 should sit inside of the metal disk with a gap between both disk.

It was a good idea to list the fixes for various control problems for others who might build the Tamiya Königstiger. I like the range of gun depression, something not always as great on other RC tanks. Then, too, the speed of the turret rotation, seems realistic for a WWII tank.

You can't beat Tamiya for realistic main gun depression unless you get Big Mike (Jarlath) to do a custom job on a Taigen/HL which are amazing. Especially on our field with all it's little hidden rises like in real life

Yes I feel like Tamiya has first class electronics but need to update and fix some of its flaws. How do you like it?

I love my Tamiyas even with their uber expensive to replace outdated electronics and really old school mechanisms. But you know what they go out every battle day year on year and never fail and our field is probably the hardest test of anywhere. In our club the only problem is they take battle damage and the Clark board tanks don't so they are at a bit of a disadvantage

Yeah I just wanted to contribute and give back to the community if anyone ever needed help and they searched for KT related issues hopefully they can stumble upon here

What do you think of Taigen they look like they have assembly kits too, are they fully assembled and do they come with all electronics, controller and gear boxes etc. How much assembly and painting compare to Tamiya?

Stick to Tamiya imo if you want to build at first unless you are very skilled. Taigen/Torro have a lot of great RTR tanks although generally (but not necessarily) not as accurate as Tamiya and are a lot of fun to paint/detail up. As you get more acquainted with this forum and delve into all the builds like I did at first you will be able to make a better judgement than I can give you. But the real modelers now are all into 3D printed models. Except for detail parts I have no knowledge at all on that subject but there are a lot of people here who do know what they are talking about on the subject
